Aannemingsbedrijf Aertssen has been involved since August 2013 in the final sealing of the Koegorspolder waste disposal site at Sluiskil in the Netherlands.

Once more Aertssen exported the expertise it has developed in the past decade in the construction and final sealing of waste disposal sites over the borders. The company had earlier jumped in on the construction and exploitation of a waste disposal site at Kostinbrot, Bulgaria. Carrying out final sealing in the Netherlands has enriched our current knowledge, given the different view on the life span of the final seal. The final sealing of the Koegorspolder site is made up of a mineral sandbentonite- polymer sealing layer combined with twosided rough HDPE sheeting, topped by a drainage mat and a planted layer. Great care must be given to quality assurance. The length of the banks exceeding 150 meters with two intermediate berms, and with slopes up to 28 degrees, this project provides an interesting technical challenge. The project continues until mid-2014.
