Bosuil (8)-4

Royal Antwerp Football Club scores with new grandstand

Royal Antwerp Football Club is once again in the first division of national football in Belgium, and that obviously requires a state of the art stadium. The old main stand of “Den Bosuil” no longer met the current football league regulations and that is why a new one is required. The new stand will also include an expansion which makes it possible accommodate more spectators and VIP boxes.

After the demolition of the old stand, we carried out the groundworks for the construction of the new stand in just four weeks. This was the priority in order that the actual construction of the stadium could commence. During construction, our hoisting experts assisted yet again by providing their expertise.

Speed and expertise

Each day we excavated 2,000 m³ with our GPS-controlled crane to prepare the building pit in no time at all. The excess soil was then transported to the quay and removed by ship. Next phase? A pile drill placed and drilled the piles in the pit. Our excavators, with tilting rotation system, were then used to excavate the required surfaces above the piles to precise tolerances for the concrete infill. This is how we built a solid foundation for the new stand.

A new grandstand

The cranes were used at a fast pace. The concrete structure of the stand in Antwerp was installed in the summer with the help of our 180 ton tracked crane. The steel roof construction, consisting of twelve main elements of approximately 32 tons, were first assembled on the ground floor, and then lifted and placed on top of the concrete structure with our 500 ton mobile hoisting crane with a secondary winch.

The board of RAFC, the players and supporters are not only rightly proud of their team, but also of their new stadium. We score together!
