Aertssen Group explores new horizons

Having successfully established permanent presence in the Middle East, Aertssen is now also setting foot on African soil. We recently opened a new international office in Morocco. We immediately won and completed a first project: the development of the port of Agadir.

Having successfully established permanent presence in the Middle East, Aertssen is now also setting foot on African soil. We recently opened a new international office in Morocco. We immediately won and completed a first project: the development of the port of Agadir.

The branch in Morocco opened on 1 September this year. Manuel Aertssen, grandson of founder Marcel Aertssen, is the driving force behind the establishment of this branch. “The new branch was a well-considered choice, given the many regional opportunities, the stable political situation and the country’s healthy financial situation”, explains Manuel, who is also responsible for the day-to-day management. “We are convinced that Aertssen can bring real added value both to local contractors and industrial service providers and to foreign companies that want to help build the future of Morocco.”

Agadir port development

With the development of the port of Agadir, Aertssen Maroc soon won its first project. This is new land recovered from the sea, for which Aertssen provides bank protection to protect the land against the forces of the surrounding seawater. A crawler crane with a lattice boom in the 650-ton class was mobilized to install concrete blocks of 42 tonnes each at a radius of 43 metres.

A successful start-up in Morocco, it turns out, because the next project has already been assigned to us. To be continued...
