Dredging works B2, Antwerp
At the Antwerp Canal Dock B2, Aertssen was responsible for the dredging works to clear the new quay wall over a length of 800 metres. In total, 1.4 million cubic metres of dredging spoil is processed. At the same time, we are breaking down the old quay wall step by step.
Daddy Grizzly
Aertssen excavated the dry zone between the old and the new quay wall from +6 to -12.5 metres. Our pontoon Yggdrasil was used for this purpose. ‘Daddy Grizzly’, our 270-tonne excavator, was specially fitted out for the job: a Hitachi EX 1900-6 mining excavator with a lifting capacity of 31 tonnes. The work at Antwerp Canal Dock B2 started early of April and was finished by the end of September.
