Grootste afgraving in jaren van start aan Antwerpse Eilandje
65.000 m³ grond vervoerd langs de Schelde voor luxe-project Montevideo Residence
Vandaag zijn de werken voor de Montevideo-site op ‘t Eilandje pas echt van start gegaan. En dat is alles behalve alledaags te noemen. Onze grote rupskranen en grondverzetmachines zullen de komende maanden zo’n 65.000 m³ grond afgraven en via de Schelde afvoeren. Om deze gigantische karwei - de grootste afgraving in jaren op ‘t Eilandje - te klaren, zijn 44 vrachtschepen nodig die maar liefst 4.500 vrachtwagens - ofwel 9.000 ritten - op de weg zouden vervangen.
“We zijn als specialist in grondverzet enorm bezig om het grondverzet zo vlot mogelijk te laten verlopen, met zo weinig mogelijk impact voor de burger. In 2018 hielden we maar liefst 40.000 vrachtwagenritten van de weg in Vlaanderen en Brussel, door het grondverzet over de waterwegen te laten gebeuren. Daarvoor konden we rekenen op onze partner Shipit die gespecialiseerd is in multimodaal transport en binnenvaartactiviteiten.” Veerle Staels, Communication Officer Aertssen Group

Aertssen zet hoogste beeld van Europa recht
Het hoogste beeld in Europa staat langs de E411 in Lavaux-Sainte-Anne, nabij Rochefort. Het beeld van de Franse kunstenaar Bernar Venet is 60 meter hoog. Om het te kunnen plaatsen, waren onze vrachtwagens en mobiele telescoopkranen nodig.

Accredited asbestos removal
Another milestone that we are proud of! We received accreditation for asbestos removal from the Federal Public Service (FOD WASO). Aertssen Group is a specialist in this field and offers a range of removal methods including remove use of incubator bags and in hermetic zones.
First pile for our new distribution center
Our logistics department will have a new head office. After months of intensive earth moving, the official start of the construction was yesterday with the first pile. Sam Aertssen opened the ceremony and we proudly raised our glass.
Our first warehouse has been built
We are very proud of our latest project. In just two months, we have refreshed the historic hangar 19 that stood along the Scheldt quays in Antwerp and rebuilt it on the sites of Spoor Oost.

We are proud to announce that the acquisition of crane rental company Michielsens has been completed. The acquisition agreement has been signed on Friday the 16th of February. We warmly welcome the 200 Michielsens employees to the Aertssen Group!
Heavy lifting for impressive office building
In Temse, Aertssen Kranen is helping build a new headquarters building for our client. We installed the steel structure so it can soon be placed on two steel trusses, 15 meters above the dry dock of the former shipyard Boelwerf.

Clean up operations following a train incident
This morning, we started the salvage works of damaged trains on the La Louvière-Bergen line. Thanks to the combined efforts of Aertssen Group, we performed this delicate job safely, quickly and professionally.
Transporting world's largest Monopile
Our affiliate Roll-iT Transported world's largest monopile with a diameter of no less than 7.8 metres and a length of 84.5 metres. Total weight? 1,300 tonnes!
A new mileston: 1,500,000 m³
Last year Aertssen started working in Wülfrath (Germany) with the preparatory works for a limestone quarry. We are removing several top layers of overburden, such as rocks and waste. Last week we've reached the milestone of 1,500,000 m³ of earthmoving! Quite impressive!

Afbraak Ford Genk begonnen

Center of Kapellen gets a makeover
In 2023 the center of Kapellen will look very differently. A new administrative center, 30 service flats, a service center and a banquet hall will be built. Last week Aertssen signed the contract for this redevelopment project.
"Den Bosuil" is saying farewell to its stage 1, making ways for a modern and new one. Aertssen is currently excavating the construction pit for the new stage.

In the impressive quarry of Quenast (Belgium), Mercedes-Benz organized its Road Efficiency Experience Days. Colleagues Peter Hoorelbeke and Alain Floré promoted the Aertssen colours during this special event, which took place from 11 to 14 May.

Largest sand sculpture ever in the Zwin
Zwin currently displays the world's largest sand sculpture. The artwork measures 40 by 40 meters and represents the logo of our group. We took pride in unveiling the logo during our family day on April 29, 2017.

Clean-up operations in the wake of a derailment
Saturday a train was derailed nearby Leuven (B). Aertssen was contracted for the entire clean-up and recovery operation. We united forces and in less than 36 hours Aannemingsbedrijf Aertssen, Aertssen Kranen and Aertssen Transport brought this delicate operation to a successful finish.
Safe and clean vehicles are an absolute must, aren’t they? Aertssen Cranes recently launched the "Mr Clean” - also known as “Mr Proper” - action. We want to emphasize to our employees that cleanliness and safety go hand in hand.

New bicycle bridge across the Albert Canal
Last weekend Aertssen Kranen installed a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge across the Albert Canal, close to the Merksem viaduct. An impressive task for which we deployed two 500-tonne mobile cranes, SPMTs and a pontoon.

Demolition of last remnants of former sugar factory
05/10/2016 - Aannemingsbedrijf Aertssen demolishes the last remnants of the former sugar factory in Veurne and paves the way for a new green future. The former site of no less than 46 hectares, will be transformed into a new residential area with an expansive park area, nature reserve and a business park. Multi lift with 14 mobile cranes
25/09/2016 - Aertssen Kranen played a prominent role in the maintenance of a pipeline for a sludge processing plant. A complex and challenging task for which we deployed 14 mobile cranes.
09/09/2016 - Yesterday Aertssen officially received approval to further expand its business activities on a 10 hectares brown field site at the Logistics Park Waasland.

Our customers count on our expertise in earthworks, they call on us to help with lifting activities and they rely on our logistics capacities. Since our establishment, we have grown into a strong, professional group with a wide range of activities.
And today we are still looking for new opportunities. One of those opportunities is presenting itself in the future Waasland Logistics Park. We have just received the go-ahead for our 10-hectare concession and in the course of 2017 we will make a start with the construction of the new premises for our distribution platform. A promising outlook, which we are proud of!

120 extra hectares for the Zwin
03/08/2016 – Aannemingsbedrijf Aertssen Aertssen is quite busy working in Knokke-Heist. The famous intertidal area the Zwin will be rebuilt and expanded with no less than, 120 hectares in the next three years. The new nesting islands, pools, cycling and hiking paths will undoubtedly charm humans and animals alike.

We are proud to confirm that in 2015, our employees again made a difference.
Our transport company's commitment was awarded second place at the 2015 Gazellen Transport & Logistics awards. Our other departments also did extremely well. Aertssen Cranes has been awarded a new framework contract for lifting works by ExxonMobil. And our contracting department has been busy transforming a former railway yard into a green, public space.
Internationally speaking, we have equally added several great projects to our name. Take for example the expansion of Jumeirah Beach in Dubai and the lifting works for the new airport terminal in Abu Dhabi.

24/09/2015 - Aertssen Transport is one of the three most rapidly growing transport companies in Belgium. We came in second during the Gazellen Transport & Logistics awards in the medium-size enterprise category. A prize that we’ve won for the second time in a row. And naturally, we are quite proud of this.
Recently, our affiliate Gulf Earth Moving in Qatar noted - get this - 2 million man-hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI). A fantastic performance!

Terranova solar - The solar panel farm on the Gipsberg in Zelzate - was a prizewinner at the prestigious InterSolar trade show on 4 June 2014 in Munich. The solar energy farm won the award for the ‘best European solar project in 2014.’

Aertssen kiest voor zero emission transport met Nikola Tre
Vorige week werd de Nikola Tre, een truck op waterstof, voorgesteld aan het grote publiek in Phoenix (Arizona). Aertssen Group was aanwezig op het lanceringsevenement van Nikola Corporation en plaatste meteen tien waterstoftrucks in voorbestelling. Meer nog, we onderzoeken intussen hoe het zelf waterstof kan produceren via eigen windmolens en zonnepanelen.
Bezinkingsbassins ruimen plaats voor natuurgebied
Op de site van de voormalige suikerraffinaderij van Genappe helpt Aertsen Terrassements mee aan de herontwikkeling van de oude bezinkingsbassins op de site. De site krijgt een invulling als natuurgebied.
