Aertssen and Denys working in partnership on the second phase of Project ONE
INEOS Olefins Belgium NV has awarded the contract for the implementation of the second phase of the works on the Project ONE ethane cracker plant to Denys-Aertssen. In April 2023 we will start the implementation of the underground pipelines, temporary installations and surfaced roads. The contract value is close to 100 million euro and the project will be executed over a period of two years.
Following the initial phase, now also the second phase
Aertssen was also involved in the initial phase. The first sheet pile was driven in December of last year. Operations continued apace on the site in recent months by the Mourik-Aertssen temporary partnership, which means that the second phase of the operations can now commence in the spring of 2023. We are particularly pleased that INEOS Olefins Belgium NV has also awarded the second Project ONE construction phase to Aertssen Infra.
The implementation of the work for phase 2 will start in April 2023. The operations will comprise, amongst other things, the installation of underground pipelines - including sewage, drinking water, drainage and fire extinguishing water lines - foundations for temporary buildings and the construction of roads, parking facilities, pavements and bus stops.
Sustainable construction
During this phase we will also be focusing on sustainable construction, with a view to the future. Once again maximum recycling and material transport via inland waterways will form the basis of sustainable implementation methods. This way we will avoid, for example, approximately 10,000 truck journeys there and back to bring crushed stone to the site, which will result in a reduction in traffic and CO2 emissions.
