Aertssen Group improve safety around school with an alternative route for heavy transport.

Aertsssen Infra are constructing a new overflow area along the Grote Struisbeek in Kontich. In an effort to improve safety around a school in Kontich, Aertssen Group are choosing an alternative route for their heavy traffic.

Aertssen Infra are constructing a new overflow area along the Grote Struisbeek in Kontich. The Grote Struisbeek joins the Borse Loop here, but in the event of heavy rainfall these watercourses are unable to drain the large volume of water. The result: flooding for nearby residents. The Provincial Executive of the province of Antwerp is providing the new overflow area to help counter flooding in the future.

Safe traffic routes

In concrete terms this means the excavation and construction of waterways and dikes by the Aertssen Infra team, resulting in a high level of site traffic, delivering and removing materials and equipment. In order to improve safety around a school, Aertssen Group have opted for a safe road diversion along major roads to avoid the centre of the village of Kontich and its primary school: after 8 weeks of holiday, the pupils were back behind their desks last Thursday.
Aertssen Infra will be busy for around 100 working days on this impressive project, but none of their heavy vehicles will be passing through village centres or near to schools during that time.
